Have you ever had these conversations with the Most High God?

You: Hello Father, I would really like “this thing” please.

It would make such a positive difference to my life.

I know You said that if we don’t ask we don’t get, so I’m definitely asking!

Father: Yes, of course! It is My will for you to have “this thing” as you have seen in My Word.

You: Thank You so much!

A Week Later

You: Hello again Father. I’ve been thanking you every day for “this thing” but I still haven’t got it.

So when do I get it please?

Father: Yes, you know it is My will for you to have it.

You: O…K…. But when?

Father: I said you can have it.

Still No Sign Of The Answer

Years later…you see Father giving someone else “this thing”.

You: Now Father, what’s going on?

This other person asks for the same thing as I did and gets it straight away but I’m still waiting.

What is that about?

Father: Hold on – according to My Word you can still have it.

You: Yes, but when?

Perceived Silence

You: Are you still there, Father? Can You hear me?

Perceived Silence Once More.

You: Look, am I going to get “this thing” or not?

Did You want me to do something in particular? Should I stop doing something?

If You don’t tell me I will never know!

Father: It is My will for you to have “this thing”. I told you that you can have it in My Word.

You: OK, thank You for “this thing” – whenever it shows up.

More time passes and there is still not even a sign of “this thing”.

In fact it seems further away than ever!

What do you do? Keep asking? Keep thanking?

Nothing?

Can’t Stand It? Yes You Can!

Yes, not only have I been there, but for some things I am still there!

For those of us who trust in the Most High God we know that He is always faithful in spite of what it looks like or feels like for us.

We walk by faith and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7)

Listen, I do practice what I preach. I know sometimes things are not easy.

We get frustrated, we become discouraged, we wonder what is so different about us.

We determine not to quit, we dig in our heels and continue to practice persistence but we’re still a bit confused.

We’ve done all we know to do so now we’re just standing…and standing…and standing.

Still Standing So Now What?

Well…more standing!

Either we continue to believe or we stop. Those are our only two choices.

Since failure is assured if we stop then it’s a no-brainer that belief is our only option, as frustrating as it may feel.

Remember our faith is above our feelings.

Weeping may endure for a night (and I know some nights seem never ending!) but joy comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5)

There’s a song that has the line, “The hotter the battle, the sweeter the victory.”

When We Don’t Understand

No, we don’t always understand why things happen the way they do.

Nowhere does it say in the Bible that God works in mysterious ways. Rather He says, Come and let us reason together. (Isaiah 1:18)

Still, there is not always a straightforward answer, as in the case of Job.

The one thing we do know is that God is indeed always faithful and if we continue to trust Him in spite of the weariness, frustration and even anger, then He is bound to keep His Word to us.

The scriptures say that God is able to do more than we can ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20)

Never Ever Accept Defeat!

Sometimes it looks like it’s the only option, but don’t go on what it looks like!

Get angry with the problem, not with God.

Always remember, you’re never too old and it’s never too late.

God works outside of time and space, or else He wouldn’t be God.

The Power of Praise

God is always on our side, so don’t be fooled into thinking that He isn’t.

Praising God is always a good thing, both in good times and bad.

It’s been said that it’s easier to praise Him on the mountain top, i.e., good times, than in the valley, i.e., bad times.

If you can praise God in the valley when it’s the last thing you want to do, then you are strengthening yourself in the battle.

Trust God With It All

When I need to encourage myself and there’s absolutely nothing else I can think of to do, then praise is always there waiting.

Yes, when everything seems unfair… Actually let’s just call it what it is. When everything IS unfair, then out comes the weapon of praise.

Remember, don’t tell God how big your problem is but tell your problem how big your God is!

It seems like a long time coming but that problem does have an expiration date.

Songs Of Praise

What I do is listen to my favourite gospel tunes and get lost in them.

Even if it’s not a gospel song but the lyrics line up with the encouragement given in the Bible then I’m all for it.

As long as I’m acknowledging that the Most High God is always in control and is not fazed by what is challenging, impossible or unfair in my life.

Hold on my brothers and sisters!

Speak the Name of Jesus over your situation. Don’t stop.

Persistence With No Resistance

Persistence, persistence, persistence.

Rest a little while then resume persistence, persistence, persistence!

Those circumstances WILL change. You WILL get your breakthrough.

Don’t worry about it – just cast all the care on God so it’s no longer your problem but His to figure out.

Are you really going to rack your brains trying to figure out an impossible problem that isn’t even yours?

No use even trying!

Trust that God knows what He is doing even if you don’t understand. (Proverbs 3:5).
