Yes the past is over, no matter how hard it is to let go sometimes.
But when we think of of all those things they did to us…it was so unfair and how dare them get away with it!
Look, I’ve been there. Let’s face it, some of us are still there.
Even though it is indeed like cheating on your loving spouse with an ex who cares nothing about you.
Travelling Back Into The Past
You know, time travel never made sense to me. As we all know, the time is always NOW.
The past is a dead place where things can no longer happen at all.
It’s like holding a social gathering with occupants in a cemetery.
Yes I know it’s science fiction, but it certainly isn’t science sense.
Tomorrow’s Another Day
How many of us would like to go back in time and change a thing or 10?!
The good news is that although there is zilch we can do to alter anything from our past, tomorrow is always another day.
Hold On, Pain Ends
Hope.
The good thing about it is that it’s constant.
Everything else has an expiration date. There is always an opportunity to turn things around.
It’s true that the past can and often does determine our future.
Well not really our future, but our present.
Remember it’s always now.
All Things Are Possible If You Believe
Our NOW is mostly the end results of our past. However, our NOW also determines our future.
Be encouraged, all is not lost.
Even in the face of what looks impossible, unattainable, like it’s never gonna happen – let’s hang onto those high, apple pie in the sky hopes!
Where there’s a will there’s a way. Don’t listen to negativity.
“NOW” Is Always The Time
Now is where all the opportunities are.
Don’t worry, it might look like they ruined it for you, or maybe you ruined it for yourself even.
Playing it over and over in your mind though helps how much?
Stop beating yourself up and stop reliving the past.
When it comes back to haunt you and you feel your blood boiling, just remember – it’s over.
Move On To Plan B
Yes, we can certainly learn from our past mistakes.
Or on the other hand maybe it’s actually too late to change the consequences of our regrets.
So move on to plan B.
It might take a little longer now to achieve that thing you wanted so much, or you might even have to look at alternatives.
Just make sure you’re doing what’s right for you though, not what anyone else says is the most wonderful thing.
Don’t base your hopes and dreams on social status – on keeping up with the Joneses and what other people think your life should look like.
The most important thing is to never give up.
Plan Ahead For The Future
Make plans for the future. It’s about to come alive in your life.
Leave dead things where they belong.
If you were expecting the arrival of a new baby, you would be preparing for that baby.
You wouldn’t be thinking about making a better life for your great grandmother five times removed.
What would you be able to do for Granny now?
You’re Not Too Old And It’s Not Too Late
Gotta love that saying.
Listen, as long as you have breath you have hope.
You’re alive! You have hope…
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, according to Proverbs 13:12.
We can grow tired and weary from waiting for so long for this or that to happen.
It can make us feel like we have no control over our own lives.
If only…if only…
So what to do now?
Choose Between The Past And The Future
Look, at the end of the day we have two choices.
Carry on OR quit.
If we do the latter then for sure we will never achieve.
We will continue cheating on our bright future and never experience its rewards.
Let’s accept forgiveness for our past foolish mistakes. We still deserve the best. (Hebrews 8:12)
I Second That Emotion
Remember again that our feelings come and go.
Let’s not base our decisions on how we feel right now. We’ll feel a different way in a minute.
One thing I learnt for sure is not to make decisions according to how I feel.
It’s all about exercising wisdom.
Sometimes we need to distract ourselves with something positive to stop ourselves acting in haste and making things worse.
Encourage Yourself For The Future
So we messed up. Or someone got the upper hand over us with great injustice.
Well of course that doesn’t feel good and we do need to acknowledge that.
What we can’t allow ourselves to do is extend the pity party to infinity.
A lot of the time it’s about encouraging ourselves.
I’ve said it before – no matter how it feels or looks, be forever determined that failure is not an option.
It might seem like you’ve lost the battle, but not the war!
There is a thing called recompense.
Determine that everything works out for your good no matter how it looks in the moment. (Romans 8:28).
You and Your Future Have Got A Good Thing Going.
Don’t jeopardize it!
It’s never a good idea to cheat. It destroys trust. In this case you lose trust in yourself.
It’s not going to affect your past in any way but it will only hurt you and your future.
Don’t give in to temptation. It’s absolutely not worth it.
Instead, why not start creating your dream life for you and your vibrant future?
