What is your idea of paradise?

Paradise Isn’t Normal?

We take this present life for granted so much that all the bad stuff in it is just normal.

It was back in my early 20s when I first got the light bulb moment that if there were no thieves, then locks and keys would not be necessary.

Before then I had not even thought about it. Keys were just a natural part of life.

Life In The Twilight Zone

Horror films and whodunnits were simply for entertainment. Never mind that people getting murdered is actually a profoundly atrocious topic.

In real life they are in fact crimes but it’s all right for entertainment?

This is why I feel those murder mystery holidays are somewhat bad taste.

What about general world conditions on a grand scale, such as wars, waning wildlife and other animal issues, starvation, poverty etc.? What if they all disappeared?

It doesn’t take much to recognise that all this is a result of gross mismanagement of the planet by the species who are supposed to be the most intelligent.

Literally all these world problems could stop if people behaved in the right way.

Paradise Equals A Simple Life

Sometimes people say it’s not as simple as that.

Well it should be!

Think about it. We have food mountains going to waste while people literally have nothing to eat.

Why is it not as simple as passing along that food to the starving? Is bureaucracy appropriate in this case? Or in any case for that matter?

World of Plenty

What about the radical idea of people choosing to settle their differences by each side deciding to love one another instead of feuding?

Sounds simplistic and Shangri-la like? Why so?

I’ll tell you. Human nature.

Humanity In Paradise

We tend to think that human nature is in essence good and noble. So why is this world in such a mess?

Especially if supposedly the most intelligent people are running the countries (which is open to question).

How could any world leader allow poverty and starvation in their country for example?

If human nature were what it should be ideally, then acting in love and doing the right thing would be the norm.

The Law Is An Ass?

The next question would be: how do we measure moral standards?

I mean, those people destroying the planet would probably argue that they are actually doing the right thing as far as they can tell.

If I take care of my own family and make sure that they are safe and comfortable, then most would agree this was the right and appropriate thing to do.

But what about if I can spare just a little to another family who has nothing at all but I say that my priority is my own family so tough luck, other family?

I could well believe that this is me being a responsible person.

But am I? By whose yard stick?

So then we have different countries with different laws and rules. All based on somebody’s opinion.

Then of course there are problems with corruption within legal systems.

Those perpetrating probably believe they are justified in their actions.

Paradise – One By One

So again, what is paradise?

For me, it’s a world where hatred, malice, selfishness and evil simply do not exist.

Simply put, a world not operating according to human nature.

Human nature controls every human, from king to pauper.

Can human nature be changed? Or is it irreversibly corrupt?

Yes it can but…It’s an individual matter.

The individual has to recognise that he or she is indeed flawed in thinking and behaviour.

However, this world will never change for the better until everyone is on board with this.

When I sit down and think about all that is going on in the world, it is a very depressing and traumatising experience.

This is why I no longer do this! At least not for prolonged periods.

Will we ever have paradise on earth?

Actually I believe we will one day.

That stems from my faith in the Most High God of the Bible who promises that Jesus Christ (Yeshua Hamashiach) will rule this earth.

Believers can actually live under the Government (or Kingdom) of God right now and not be subject to the ruling of the god of this world.

We are given a new nature (Ezekiel 36:26) and become a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Does that make us better than everyone else? Not in ourselves, no.

It’s the nature of God that makes us better than what we were before. It actually transforms us.

No, that still doesn’t mean that we are perfect in this life but we are a work in progress. We are begotten again as sons and daughters of God (1 Peter 1:3).

Can you imagine all the sons and daughters of God living on earth under the rulership of the only one world Government that is actually good for the people i.e., under Jesus?

That’s what I call paradise!

As I see this world continue to struggle and suffer under a heavy weight of evil, I can’t help but look forward more and more to the return of Jesus to this earth.

Fulfill Your Destiny

Having said all that, we still have to live here and make the most of it while we do.

There’s a song that begins “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.”

Yes we can still have happy, productive lives if we follow the principles that allow us to.

We don’t have to be depressed. We don’t have to despair.

This world is certainly no paradise, I think we can all agree. It’s not even designed to be an easy place to live as far as world systems go.

But you don’t have to be a victim!

Remember that good overcomes evil every time. Fight for what is rightfully yours. Success is your birthright.

All things are possible if you believe.

I believe in paradise!

The joy of the Lord is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)
