Sometimes we reach a point when we instinctively decide it’s now or never.
Let’s explore.
Blue Skies
Shhh…I have a guilty pleasure to confess…
I grew up up listening to my parents’ record collection, many of which were Jim Reeves‘ Albums – considered to be for “old people”.
So although I was young and hip 😄 there was one particular song called “Blue Skies” which for me had a real “feel good” factor.
It’s an optimistic little ditty about falling in love of course, but the lines I paid more attention to were “Blue skies smiling at me, nothing but blue skies do I see.”
I remember looking out my little bedroom window in the attic when skies were blue and thinking of this song. I felt all gooey inside!
Not So Blue Skies
The other day I was due to visit a friend at her house.
It so happened the morning looked very bleak – cloudy skies and light rain threatening a miserable, soggy day.
The days before had been dry, sunny and bright!
I texted my friend that I would nevertheless brave the elements to get to her.
She texted back a picture of her back garden showing a rather cloudy but nevertheless dry and bright atmosphere. Better than where I was.
So what about when skies are grey? When things are not going so right?
When you feel like you’re actually the proverbial “someone worse off than everyone else”, as in “There’s always someone worse off than you!”
Gratitude Is The Answer
Look, there’s no point denying feelings of disappointment, frustration, even despair sometimes.
These are times when what we need to do is encourage ourselves. (1 Samuel 30:6 KJV).
We can do this by switching things up and thinking of everything or anything we are grateful for.
Anything at all will do, from having food on the table, to finding a good parking space, to getting a pay rise.
There is always at least one thing.
Counting Your Blessings
There really is something to counting our blessings and naming them one by one.
Just because things might not be going your way now, remember life is full of ups and downs.
It doesn’t mean things will never get better.
It just means you are already blessed and this particular blessing is still finding its way to you for whatever reason.
Steps For Massive Motivation
Always keep the end goal in clear focus.
When your end goal is clearly imprinted in the mind’s eye, then the body and mind will be able to subconsciously condition themselves to suit your needs to successfully complete the task set.
Continuously remind yourself of the capabilities and the conviction that it is possible to finish the task.
This will then translate into a zest and even chemical reaction within the body and mind that produces the extra energy to keep going.
Stepping back and seeing what you’ve already accomplished will also help further motivate you to complete it.
This is more so when things are going well but also when not so well.
Giving little rewards to yourself to enjoy as each step is achieved can also be a good motivational tool.
When You’re Going Through Hell Keep Going!
Self motivation is probably the single most important element in keeping you interested and committed to getting that thing done.
Remember, the doubt factor that’s always present in every scenario means we need at least some level of motivation so that the doubt is kept in check or at bay.
We all know in life it’s not always possible to only do things or be exposed to things that only bring pleasure.
There will be times when some discipline is required to get through a task even if it’s uncomfortable and not too much fun, and here is where we need to be self motivated.
Remember the end goal!
Driving Lessons – Driven Up The Wall?
I passed my driving test after three attempts.
Just before the third attempt I decided that if I didn’t pass this time, that was it, I was getting myself a travel card.
And I meant it!
I had spent years taking driving lessons, on and off.
It was my dream to have that freedom of owning my own car – to not have to rely on other people.
But it felt like pulling teeth.
Now it was make or break time...
That was over 30 years ago.
Today, I’m so grateful to have my driving licence and a car and to not have to rely on public transport.
Especially where I live, where buses seem to operate on a blue moon schedule.😄
Anyway, the point is sometimes we have to dig in our heels and decide enough is enough!
How many times have we tried something over and over, hoping this time it will work?
Frustrating much?
I know, I know, you’re tired and you’ve heard “Your breakthrough could be just around the corner!” more times than you care to remember.
Still, DO NOT GIVE UP!
Enough Is Enough – It’s Now Or Never!
Be more determined than ever because only then will you finally achieve.
There’s something about audacious determination, where failure is not an option, that makes that mountain move! (See Mark 11:23 KJV Bible)
Cry out “ENOUGH!”
ENOUGH!
MEAN IT WITH EVERY FIBRE OF YOUR BEING!
It’s very true that you fail only if you quit.
Rest if you must (and you must!) but then get back in that driving seat and steer your way to VICTORY.
Determination Is Key
Don’t despair! Hold on.
Put on your favourite uplifting song and switch up your mood.
Things will turn around and there WILL be a brighter day.
Determine that no matter what it feels like or looks like you WILL have your dream.
Has this encouraged you?
